Eight of Swords invites you to join us for the opening reception of “Get Lost” by Nash Hogan. Sponsored by our friends at Coney Island Lager. The after party will be hosted at the newly opened Passenger Bar on Roebling and South 3rd. Drink specials for anyone with the flyer from11-close. We hope you can make it for the opening night but works will by on display in our gallery until March 8th.
Nash’s paintings are created from collections of snapshots he’s taken while wandering and getting lost in various cities. He combines different views of nearby areas to suggest a cinematic depiction of transitioning scenes, multiple exposures, and vignettes between dialogue and plot. His goal is not to render the scenes photographically, but specific locations are recognizable if the viewer has been there before.
Nash Hogan is an artist from Athens/Atlanta Georgia now living in Brooklyn. As children he and his brother would explore Atlanta and nearby towns for new places to skateboard. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a BFA in printmaking. He works as a tattooer at Hand of Glory in Brooklyn and Thicker Than Water in Manhattan. Nash loves dogs, getting lost, getting weird, dancing and karaoke. He has won three second place awards, one in a trout fishing tournament, and two in the pine wood derby. As if that were not enough, he is also an accomplished beard farmer and his favorite color is blue.
